If you work 40 hours a week — and let’s face it, few people work only 40 hours — your hourly rate is $25 per hour. If you spend roughly one hour commuting to work, and then another hour commuting home you spend 10 hours a week commuting for a cost of $250. Over the course of a year, that commute of yours has cost you $12,500. That’s one expensive commute.
